With the September edition of Maison&Objet comes Paris Design Week, an event where the French and international design community takes to the streets of Paris for a rich calendar of events, cocktails, tours, and meetings, culminating in the celebration of emerging talents. Grouped under Procolombia— the Colombian government’s foreign investment arm— a group of five Colombian designers took a varied selection of their creations to the French capital, looking to show the ancestral and indigenous techniques of their crafts. Among them were Artesanías de Colombia, Del Portillo, Folies, Gres, and Mónica Urquijo, chosen to represent Colombia for this edition of Paris Design Week. colombiatrade.com.co

HKliving is a Dutch interior brand founded bij Emiel Hetsen and Sander Klaver. The brand creates accessible collections with products inspired by traditional and usable designs while respecting its history, always with a modern look and feel.
Their design process focuses on honoring an original style while also creating accessible products.
This was one of our favorite stands at the fair, with everything from the wicker-clad armoires to the geometric vases catching our eye. hkliving.nl
Laura Gonzalez
During the four-day fair, Spanish architect Laura Gonzalez was selected for 2019’s Maison&Objet Paris Designer of the Year Award. Already well-known in Paris, the architect has also started working overseas, spreading her “reworked classical” style to a host of restaurants, bars, hotels and stores. Her bold combinations mix fabrics, motifs, materials, colors and eras, resulting in a unique signature style. lauragonzalez.fr
Petite Friture
An exception in the often conservative landscape of French furniture, Petite Friture boldly asserts its own distinctive aesthetic and a keen take on contemporary design. Thanks to the quality and creativity it has demonstrated by partnering with talented young French and Italian designers, the brand’s well designed products perfectly capture its zeitgeist while reaching a large audience through reasonable prices. Created by design platform Meet My Project, 1000 Vases asked over 50 designers from around the world to create their own interpretation and vision of what a vase should look like.
